We live in a post-modern, scientific culture that had rationalized God out of their mental framework.  The church has not helped itself by acting as if science does not exist.  We will be trying to talk about this topic by using what science does have to say about the existence of a God who loves and cares for and about us.  Psalm 19 speaks to how creation bears witness to the glory of God.

This may not be a hot topic for many of our older congregants, but it is for our younger folks. As post-moderns, they are skeptical of institutions and established world views....they tend to embrace syncretism—many world views. Their mentality of viewing the world tends to say “the truth is what I make it”; and when it comes to spiritual or eternal things, all paths often lead to the same place. This is a mystery to their parents and grandparents—who often come to church and believe in Christ because that is what they were taught and were culturally expected to do so.

Hebrews 10:1-4 & 8-10
Our faith was born out of the Jewish family tree—it is rooted in God's story of redemption for His chosen people. The Old Testament (OT) told the story of how God called His people to be holy and distinctive. A sign of their faithfulness was the regular series of sacrifices. The OT is a way—but we have come to believe that Jesus is a better way. In Hebrews, we learn that God's grace is not limited to the Hebrews alone; but God gave the sacrifice of Jesus "once for all" people.
