THE KINGDOM PRINCIPLE – A Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal (BHAG)

Every once in a while—for some of us only once in a lifetime—we get to participate in something that is much bigger than we are that can have lasting impact.  I believe our participation in “The Kingdom Principle” has the potential to be one of those times.

You are invited to fully participate in a Kingdom-sized task—this is a BHAG (a Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal)—that is intended to expand the reach of our faith and ministry.  None of this seed money has come from the offerings or reserves of our church.  It has been given by members of our church leadership and staff as a loan to seed this opportunity for us to grow.  In seven weeks, we will collect the growth money, repay the loaned funds, and give 100% of the proceeds we receive away.  We are asking you to partner with God and one another to see “The Kingdom Principle” come to life.

A few things:

• We are asking you to take the money and invest it for the Kingdom between now and the weekend of May 31/June 1.
• This is God’s money—it is not yours.  It is a loan, and will be paid back first when it is returned.
• Use it for His glory.  Pray about it.  Be imaginative.  Work together.  Partner with friends.  Do something as a family.  Allow God to bless you as you take a step in faith and action.
• Share your story—we would like to hear about how God is moving in your life as you partner with Him in the work of the Kingdom.
• We are asking that you return the original money (and whatever has been multiplied from it) on the weekend of May 31/June 1 during one of our worship celebrations.
• Any funds received above the original loan amount will be distributed as follows:

• 25% will be used to purchase food which will be distributed locally;
• 25% will be sent to the Jackson Area Ministries for construction of their new headquarters building;
• 25% will be sent to UMCOR for Hurricane Katrina Relief; and
• 25% will be used to build a church in another country.

• Have fun with this—“Enter into the joy of your Master.”  (Matthew 25: 21,23)

You have been entrusted with God’s money in hopes that you will do something to multiply it before the end of May; trust your instincts; follow your own gifts; do something that is uniquely you.   On May 31/June 1, bring the original money and any increase with you to worship.  We will repay the individuals who have loaned us the seed money, and then give the increase away—to help spread the joy of the Kingdom.  Sounds fun, doesn’t it?!?
